Captured during rehearsals at the Shakespeare Theatre Company, these images offer an intimate look at the creative process behind The Secret Garden. Commissioned by The Washington Post, my photography highlights the dedication of the cast and creative team as they bring this beloved musical to life.

Featuring young actors Anya Rothman and Henry Baratz in the roles of Mary Lennox and Colin Craven, the images showcase their emotional depth and transformation throughout the story. Also featured is Tony Award-winner Daisy Eagan, returning to the production in a new role decades after originating the part of Mary Lennox on Broadway.

The photos document key moments of collaboration between director David Armstrong and the cast, as well as the musical’s original creators, composer Lucy Simon and bookwriter/lyricist Marsha Norman. Through these visuals, I aimed to capture the passion, movement, and storytelling that shape this production from rehearsal to performance.

This project was an opportunity to provide an inside look at the artistry behind The Secret Garden, reinforcing my commitment to capturing the essence of live theater through photography.
